Friday 7 June, 2019
Sue Sykes a member of the St Albans mortgage broking team who works with mortgage broker Amy Kadir is taking part in a charity bike challenge on August 4th. The Prudential Ride London to Surrey bike challenge consists of cycling 100 miles in one day. The cyclists start at the Olympic Park in Stratford and go through the centre of London out to the Surrey hills then return through central London to the Mall where the race finishes.
Sue Sykes, Lonsdale Mortgages Administrator, St Albans, Hertfordshire said:
‘I am really looking forward to taking part in the bike challenge as the route follows the 2012 Olympic bike route. I have been training hard by cycling regularly. So far I have cycled 62 miles in one go, so still more miles to build up. However, we will benefit from road closures on the day and have up to 8 and a half hours to complete the course!’
Sue Sykes, Mortgage Administrator, St Albans continued:
‘As I wasn’t lucky enough to get a place in the ballot I am riding for charity. The charity is The Sick Children’s Trust who provide ‘home from homes’ to families with sick children in hospital, so that they can be within easy reach of the hospitals and not have to travel long distances home every night.
This is a fabulous charity and helped my brother and sister in law when my nephew was in Great Ormond Street Hospital on the heart transplant list for 6 months. The family could stay in a ‘home from home’ property right next door to GOSH rather than travel to and from Essex every day.’
This is not the first challenge Sue has completed. In May 2017 she competed in her first Triathlon at the Eton Dorney Lake, where the rowing took place for the 2012 Olympics. The Triathlon involved swimming 400m in the lake, a 20km cycle ride and a 5km run round the lake. Sue completed the Triathlon in two hours and one minute.
